Exhaust Fan Belt Service

Broken Restaurant Exhaust Fan Belts Can Be Disastrous

Is your restaurant constantly fighting against excessive smoke build-up within the kitchen during business hours? Do you have to remove some filters in order to get air circulation above the cooking equipment?

A quality exhaust fan belt is critical for any hood system to function. In fact, a broken or worn fan belt is the most common reason why hood exhaust systems don’t work properly. It causes the kitchen to be excessively hot and the exhaust fan to operate inefficiently. This not only creates an obvious safety hazard, it can also cost hundreds of dollars in excess utility bills.

For that reason, American Fire Prevention Inc. recommends that restaurants and commercial cooking facilities have a scheduled replacement program for exhaust fan belts. We suggest that the most convenient time to do this is after every hood cleaning.

We offer a 3-month, 6-month and 12-month fan belt maintenance program.

No Exhaust Fan = No Cooking

CAUTION: If your exhaust fan should ever suddenly stop operating and fails to pull out the smoke and heat…. Call Us Immediately and stop cooking until a technician gets there! By allowing the heat to build up inside the exhaust hood by continued cooking presents a high risk of discharging your fire suppression system and completely shutting down your restaurant. A simple phone call can potentially save you thousands of lost revenue.

EXHAUST FAN SHAFT BEARING REPLACEMENT

Eventually over time, if the shaft bearings are not properly maintained, they will gradually produce a loud rumbling sound that is very noticeable inside the kitchen area. Once the bearings become damaged, they will begin to damage the integrity of the restaurant exhaust fan by causing the exhaust fan to shake apart causing damage to the fan blade, motor mount bushings and pulley system which will increase the cost of repair. It is important to have your exhaust fans serviced every 6 months to ensure that the fan belts and shaft bearings are in proper working condition at all times. The cost of this service is small in comparison to the cost of replacing the fan with a new one. If your exhaust fan should need bearing replacement, our service technician will instruct the restaurant manager to inform the staff that the exhaust fan is to remain OFF during the time of repair. To ensure proper installation, all bearing replacements will need to be scheduled during day hours. The average time to replace the bearing is usually 3 hours unless the bearings have caused extensive damage to the exhaust fan.

Once the bearings have been replaced, your kitchen staff will be very pleased of the total noise reduction and the increased ventilation that has been restored.
